Today turned out to be a good ‘rest’ day for Benny after his travelling, as the hospital we went to….wasn’t the hospital where my doctor friend was! She’d had to go on emergency ‘stuff’ at another hospital, so our journey was frutiless. A church meeting that might have happened tonight isn’t….Colombia, Colombia, how I love you! Truth is, that if this sort of thing happened in the UK, or Europe, I’d be pretty ‘upset’ (!), so I DO believe that, since the early days of travelling in Africa back in the late ’80s, God’s given a real measure of grace that I couldn’t generate in the western world, for countries where clocks and diaries don’t work the same as back home!
I remember, many years ago, in Ghana, talking to a dear friend, John Quansah, in Ghana, and he was quite western in his the way he operated. I asked him, ‘How do you cope with timekeeping here?’ His answer was both profound and funny. ‘In the western world, you have watches. In Africa, we have time’…. so tody has been yet another nice lunch, as it’s been 35C here, a couple of hours in the apartment, and then, as it’s the only thing on at the cinema worth watching, ‘GI Joe’ tonight!
When you look at the ‘events page’ for the coming few days, it might be no bad thing that we have a had a quieter day today, with the drug rehab and now the hospital from this morning tomorrow morning, the old people’s home in thw afternoon…Saturday is busy, Sundy is hectic!
Wishing a little of our heat here on all of you in Western Europe… 😉
