As someone who was born coeliac (allergy to anything gluten, wheat based, and so much more!), I recall only too well, even as a small boy, the limitations that the disease puts on people. My mum had to cook totally separately for me, make bread & pretty much everything, and in the 1950’s, there weren’t sections in supermarkets that catered for us. No sausages, no baked beans… some might say I could well do without things like that now!
Having realised I’d been healed of it (more of that a bit further on), since starting to pray for the sick, I’ve seen many people healed of the disease. One – amongst many in Australia – was on my recent trip there.
A lovely young mum, named Elvira, was round at a friend’s house one day when I went to pray for the friends. Telling me that she was coeliac, faith rose (!): she’d problems with a lot of food digestion as a result, and her diet, to say the least, was limited. A week later, she came to a meeting I was speaking at, at Diamond Valley Baptist Church, simply to tell me that she’d been healed immediately, and had spent the week eating burgers, ice cream, and so much more. Her story was that it had changed her life, her kids were over the moon that mum could eat what they ate, and her husband, you can imagine, was delighted.
Of course, as Satan delights in ‘not playing clean’, he began his assault after a few weeks, and here are ‘snippets’ from Elvira’s Facebook messages (can God heal through Facebook? Yes, He can!):
I hope you remember you prayed twice for me and God healed me from coeliac disease. Could you please pray for me one more time? I have got a rash since Monday. It appeared on the same places when I had coeliac disease. I rebuked it in the name of Jesus, I do not accept the rash, but it is still there and in fact bigger than it was on Monday. It is very itchy and looks ugly. Although I realized today that it doesn’t look the same as I had when I had coeliac disease. I know it is Satan tries to steal my healing and I resist as I do not want to lose it. But I think the fact that the rash is on specific places and is very itchy made my attempts to resist weaker I think I need help. Can you please pray for healing from the itchiness, rash and any immune or autoimmune reactions it might be.
Hi Paul,
Great to hear from you.
Sure, will wait for you, whenever you have time. Btw, the rash is halfway gone today….
Last Friday I was almost itch free, but then i started to have more itchiness. Now I have the rash that appears on different places -arms, fingers, feet, legs- and is itchy and when I rebuke it in the name of Jesus, it soon goes away, but then in several hours appears again. Please pray one more time for complete healing.
The rash is several times less than it was. Although I still have some I had (sorry) diarrhea today and nausea which worried me. I am much better – the rash is almost gone, but still very little appears sometimes.
I have some problems with digestion though – have not good stool and nausea. Today woke up early with diarrhea and nausea and not feeling well, but we are going fishing today! I do not want to cancel the trip…
Thank you for your time, Paul!
I started to feel much better several min ago – i guess when you were praying.
In fact, a good few people were healed in Australia, of serious, major immune/allergenic/nervous system diseases that affect food – lactose intolerance, dairy, and others!
Certainly back on the ’50s and ’60s, when I was coeliac, there was very little that could be done: AND, of course, in most churches, the word ‘healing’ in the context of NOW wasn’t even breathed, because it must have been that God’s power was neutered when John finished writing Revelation….even dear old hero Smith Wigglesworth was dead, and apart from him and George Jeffreys, a name most ‘good’ Christians didn’t know about (!), healing didn’t exist. Mum was meticulous in advising all my friends’ mums as to what I could and couldn’t eat/drink, so even ‘going to my mate’s for tea’ was no escape. Until… I was 13: a friend whose mum my mum hadn’t warned, asked me round, and I was presented, for the first time in my life, sausages, beans, and chips…. aaahhh….wonderful! Didn’t dare tell mum: but after about 6 visits, and 6 similar meals, I thought I ought to. Mum, of course, panicked: I should be desperately ill, if not dead…. and then the doctors confirmed that I was no longer coeliac. A miracle when miracles didn’t happen….at 18, I was prayed for by a lovely bloke named George Tarleton (some of you might remember him) – a ‘back specialist’ – not medic, you understand, but faith… I’d been born with a ”small spina bifida of the neural arch’ – apparently 1mm from being full blown spina-bifida crippled.
George did the first ‘leg growing’ I – or any of our youth group – had ever seen! We were stunned. If I think back now, I’d have asked him to keep praying for both legs to be longer…. shortness has its limitations! My 18-year long back pain went instantly: x-rays a few weeks later showed that the hole had gone…..
I look back NOW, and realise that from childhood, God was clearly setting a pattern for my life that it took ME at least a couple of decades to realise – that HEALING was part of my life – and now, of course, it IS my life….God’s so flippin’ amazing!!!
