Two super meetings this morning – Alan & Barbara were at Pastor Wilmar Gomez’s church – El Abrigo (I’m told that El Abrigo el Altisimo’ is better translated as ‘The covering of the most High’ – a wonderful name for a church, eh?). Alan preached, Barbara shared her own personal miracle story of healing (osteoarthritis in both knees): initially they prayed for the whole church, but then Wilmar made another call for healing. Interestingly, ‘healing’ seems to go in ‘phases’ here – sometimes it’s been an abundance of stomach ailments, other times asthma, other times cancer. Today, at the church they were in it was fear. They were still ‘motoring’ praying for people at 1.30, from a 10 am service start! Alan, when he prays for people, invariably imparts immense heat into people, one lady especially, with a very significant hernia, was particularly incendiary! She couldn’t take time off work to have the hernia dealt with, nor could she afford it if she did take time out – and she wouldn’t be able to feed her family. We are so, so blessed in the UK, despite the shambles the NHS seems to be in, not to have to be in that position.
I was at Pastor Francisco Riaños’ church, in the barrio Metropolitano, up in the north. A lot of people are ‘out of town’ this weekend, as it’s the independence celebration weekend, but there were still a good number there. A friend, Jon Taylor, from England, who is in Colombia visiting an old friend, came with me: I’m not sure he’d prayed too much for healing for people but I do have this ministry of dropping people in it, so Jon, Francisco, and I prayed for people. One ‘older’ lady, Graciella, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatism, and so much pain, had all her pain levels disappear…. she’d got osteoarthritis in her knees, too 🙂 – so thank you, Lord, for that one! All the pain had gone… another lady with severe back pain, said all her pain levels had almost disappeared: Francisco’s dad said the pain and discomfort from two significant hernias had decreased, and gut pain. A lady with big problems with her liver had all the pain and discomfort go…. and so it went on…. it’s wonderful! Another set of knees of were healed, too… perhaps THIS week is my turn!
As someone who has learned about extreme bodily pain, the hard way, I have so much more empathy and sympathy for people in pain: and so much more anger at the cause of it….
Wilmar, Marlene, his beautiful wife, and Sophie and Sarah, their two super daughters, took us out for lunch – a lunch they could ill-afford, I know that, but they wanted to bless us: it’s a doubly wonderful meal when you know that not only does it taste great, but what sacrifice has gone into providing it.
By the time ‘lunch’ was over, after late church finishes, and in extreme heat here today, it was about 5 pm, and we were all well and truly cream-crackered….it’s a wonderful way to FEEL tired, though, when you’ve been giving and giving out to people, and seeing God do things only he can do.
The week has well and truly filled up, not just with church meetings, but kids’ foundations, maybe the prison, and much, much more….
