On my way, Sergey & Svetlana – coming to meet Jesus where you are…

In London tonight, with the long haul looming ahead through Singapore and on to Melbourne – taking with me only faith in a God who DOES MIRACLES to transform lives, and just because he can! I can’t heal Sergey….but I know that God CAN, and believe that he WILL…. so the arrival at Heathrow tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10.30 am, looking at the arrival in Melbourne, at 8.15 pm Wednesday, doesn’t seem an issue at all. The faith of Sergey and Svetlana is in a great place: I’m just going to join my faith with theirs and see God do what no-one else, or nothing else, can do….

Keep your prayers going, if you’re praying, please…!!

Update on Sergey

I’ve just had a message from Svetlana, with this current update on whats happening with Sergey:

I’m so happy you are coming so soon and if God likes the idea and support us it gives even more hope to both me and Sergey!!! Decision about the surgery has not been made yet and seems it wouldn’t take place at all – tomorrow will answer. The problem is that (as surgeon we both trust a lot explained us today) the surgery (even it’s done successfully) would not help in long term – in ideal situation it’ll resolve of problem with his bowel blockage for a week or two… the cancer is in many other places so surgery is not a treatment any longer for Sergey – only chemo or new trial drug can help if work well for him. But the problem is that chemotherapy specialist apparently wouldn’t allow Sergey to have any due to the blockage… and actually we don’t know yet if Sergey is eligible for the trial or not…tomorrow surgeon would have a final conversation with chemotherapy specialist to decide if without the surgery Sergey cant receive any treatment at all… But Sergey is just waiting for you as he’s 100% sure God will heal him after you pray!!! He believes that’s his way out of death…. And he hasn’t given up fighting only because he believes and waits for you!!!!

I prayed that he wouldn’t have the surgery, at least until there’s been an opportunity to pray with Sergey. As you can see from Svetlana’s message, their faith is high, which is a blessing to me, as it may well be a case of ‘your faith has made you well’…. that’s a wonderful place to pray FROM. When you have to try and pick people up out of a pit of despair and, dare I say it, self-pity (humanly understandable, but definitely not helpful!), it’s exponentially harder to pray.

I only booked my ticket yesterday at 0130 am: I’ve just heard from the airline (Singapore Airlines – always the best every year in awards!), that I’ve been upgraded from London to Singapore (13 hours!) and Singapore to Melbourne (8 hours), and then Singapore to London on the way home next Monday! Just need someone to not turn up for their business class seat from Melbourne to Singapore! It’s hard to describe what a joy and relief it is for this to happen: one of the ‘joys’ of flying a lot with the same network of airlines (Star Alliance) and getting a little piece of gold plastic – the top tier on Singapore Airlines…. thank you, Lord!

Prayer, please….

When I was in Australia a couple of months ago, I had the pleasure and the privilege of meeting a lovely young married couple, Sergey and Svetlana Mironova. Sergey had been diagnosed with cancer, and we had a lovely time praying together. They are a couple that I felt God had got big plans for, together with their little daughter, Mary. In the past couple of weeks, the cancer has increased with a vengeance, and I’ve had lots of conversations with Svetlana on Facebook, keeping me right up to date with Sergey’s condition.

It’s not good. The doctors have suggested that, as the cancer is now in his stomach, too – its cut off the entrance to the stomach for all food – that they give him medication to help the pain, and…. well, there’s only one (fairly imminent) outcome to that. They have a lot of faith, these two: but understandably, Svetlana’s especially, has been rocked massively, and they’ve asked me, after them praying about it, if I’d go and pray for Sergey. It seems that the churches in their area don’t have faith for healing, and they clearly felt that God did something in Sergey the night we prayed. They are just an ordinary Russian couple, now resident in Australia, but they’ve had the faith and willing to make the sacrifice to pay for me to go.

So – on Monday night I fly over to England, and Tuesday, fly out to Melbourne, to pray for this lovely man for a miracle. They’re lining up others for me to pray for, which, of course, I’m more than happy to do. After the immense faith-raising time in Cali, Colombia last month, my faith is ‘up there’ and want to see this cancer totally annihilated. Please would you pray for them, and for me? My knees have been rebelling somewhat, so it’s going to be a ‘gritted teeth’ journey!

Today – well, yesterday now! – Saturday, I had the honour of ‘officiating’ at the interment of dear Roy Campbell’s ashes into his mum’s grave. It was a beautiful morning here, warm and sunny, and just a precious time with a number of members of Roy’s family. It was another lovely occasion to tell of Roy’s salvation just ahead of him going to meet Jesus, and I pray that for some of the not-yet Christians in the family will make the same choice as Roy, who was dearly loved by the whole family.

Tonight, Sunday, Peter and Kerry, who were in Colombia with me, are sharing their experiences there in church: my prayer is that it will take some – all? – of the people who hear them, to a new place of faith for healing: of themselves, and for others.
