You might remember that a month ago, I went to England to go and pray for long-time friend Ray Goudie: Ray and Nancy have been friends since our time in British Youth for Christ in the 70s. Ray was diagnosed with cancer in April last year, and there has been a lot of prayer going up for him and Nancy in the 15 months since then. Back in June, Ray was hospitalised, and basically told that, unless he was able to have a bowel movement, he had a few – maybe 4 – days to live.
Ray’s had a few since then, mostly around that time, artistically referred to by Nancy as ‘Mr Whippy’ poos…Ray’s been hoe since that time, but the blockage still won’t go away permanently, and it’s been a while since the last Mr Whippy… Ray and Nancy are both incredible movers and shakers in the kingdom, and there’s absolutely no way that God has finished with Ray yet. As Ray has had the ‘movements’ necessary in the past few weeks, it seems to be a concerted onslaught from the enemy to discourage and demoralise them. There are some ‘significant’ people who believe that Ray will live, including Smith Wigglesworth’s great grand-daughter (I’m not sure I’d disagree with a Wigglesworth!). I’ve pastedNancy’s last two Facebook posts here to give you a bigger picture: would you, when you remember, pray for both of them, please, and especially Ray, that the world would drop out of his….. where the enemy wants the bottom to drop out of their world….
Today’s post from Nancy:
Today has been good and difficult – Ray continues to eat in the morning and at lunchtime (i.e. liquids and soup) but in the afternoon didn’t feel he could eat anymore. Although he didn’t feel sick he did feel he was full and if he ate anymore he may be sick. We really could do with the bowels moving. Could you all concentrate your prayers on this? In the afternoon our friend from South Africa (Smith’s great granddaughter) called and prayed for Ray. A timely phone call and afterwards both Ray and I were so encouraged. This morning our friend Paul sent us a link to a message from Graham Cooke – what an encouragement that was too! If you want to hear it then go on my profile page and listen. David had a word from God and he knew when he fought Goliath who was going to win. We know we have a word from God and it will not fail, however, it feels like we need a push to breakthrough into living life to the full. Can you pray about this too please. Thank you. We trust in our amazing God knowing that God has the best for us ahead. Lets push through in prayer to see 1) Complete health and wholeness for Ray. 2) Ray’s bowels moving naturally and normally. Thank you!
Yesterday’s post from Nancy:
Ray has had another good day although he has felt rather tired from the heat and of course from being quite weak. He has had his morphine cut again today which is great. He tends to eat more in the morning and very little late afternoon and evening. He woke up this morning singing a song – ‘I’m getting stronger every day – stronger ever day!’ it was great to hear….He did go for a little walk inside the house today – he would have gone downstairs but he felt he wasn’t strong enough to get back upstairs later. Our friend Paul Bennison called by phone again to pray for Ray which was wonderful. Ray is definitely much more alert but hasn’t had the strength today because of the heat – its been 33C (91F) here today and of course we don’t have air conditioning. Prayer points for today: 1) Praise God for what God has done and is doing. Pray that Ray will continue to improve and indeed get stronger every day. 2) Pray that Ray continues to sleep well and that his body recovers during the night. 3) Pray that his bowels move. 4) Pray that Ray can eat more and in the meantime that God will sustain his weight. 5) Pray that Ray’s meds are able to be cut even more. 6) Pray that all the symptoms will go and that divine health would permeate every part of his body. 7) Praise God for the army of people who are helping us and praying for Ray. Praise God for the doctor who is helping us with his nutrition. We are so grateful to all….
They’re a couple who have changed countless lives: my belief, and that of many others, is that what is to come is going to be greater than anything they’ve done before….
