I think in time Thanney’s contribution to the culinary delights of Colombia, and Cali especially will become legendary…. it’s becoming custom now on a Saturday morning to hear the sizzling of bacon, better still the smell of bacon (is there a BETTER smell to wake up to, along with fresh bread cooking?) as Thanney uses what local ingredients we can find to create an Ulster Fry, and invite local friends to sample a traditional Irish breakfast. Potato bread and Soda bread present the difficulty as none of the supermarkets seem to stock them. I wonder why? I’m sure if some enterprising entrepreneur – hey Wilmar, how about you? You’re in Ireland in February, you could negotiate deals then! – were to import either or better still, both, Irish Fry restaurants could take off all over Colombia….
The baked beans are the first thing Thanney packs before heading to Cali, last time at the expense of his shoes and odd items of clothing….
Of course, you do realise that these feasts are 100% cholesterol free (LOL!!) – or was that 100% cholesterol? – but to sit with a plate of bacon, eggs, sausages, fried tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, and a good cup of tea, is worth the risk….
atoes, mushrooms, Bimbo (hmmm….the local equivalent of Brennans or Hovis – great name though, eh? Start your day with a bimbo…. – is a delight to look forward to, and savour, each Saturday morning. Please in your prayers for us as a team you cover heart conditions, venal quality, and that the numbers on the cholesterol machine are obscured back home in the UK when we next see our doctors….
Looks healthy and nutritious.
