Joke aside, the situation I’ve mentioned in recent blogs, has ‘ramped up’ a good few levels this evening….
I’m so grateful to God that on the far side of the pond known as the Atlantic, I have dear, dear friends Ian & Bev Roberts, covering my corner. They’re Aussies, and from Melbourne, a regular haunt of mine these past years, so we have a lot in common. Ian’s been doing a lot of legwork, phoning, and cajoling, on my behalf, with the unbelievable moving company: if ‘Watchdog’ was on in the USA, I’m sure Matt would pretty quickly have them under ‘Rogue Traders’.
Back end of April/early May, they were very keen to get $3950 – that’s £2633 in real money – from me, to ship my stuff across said pond. Again, I can’t go into details, as it is now definite that legal – and probably police – proceedings will be the next move. Fraud, theft, deception, failure to fulfil a contract…. and more.
The company that shipped my stuff across to Liverpool, are on the warpath with me and Ian: prepared to back any legal action. And I have email and other evidence which supports me. Truly, I could really do without this: but with the storage bill in Liverpool spiralling upwards at £156 a day, aciton has to be taken quickly now. The storage company won’t release the goods until the shipping company in the US is paid. Cooks have lied through their teeth for the past two weeks: a story applicable others in this sorry saga.
I’d really value your prayers: not for the money, though obviously that’s important. Please pray that it all happens quickly: much as I still love the USA, that love has taken a pounding over the past 4 years. When I went to the US originally, I had to sue the shippers, and won. I think it’s pretty much an open and shut case this time, too: but if they’ve gone bust, then the options become more personal…..
Sorry to be a pain going on about this, but along with the extremely vile stuff I’m about to swallow (a litre of it!) in order to be in ‘good condition’ for my video-shoot tomorrow (colonoscopy – not really a video-shoot!), it’s pretty much occupying my mind right now.
Still, I DID have an absolutely fantastic evening, seeing a band perform that I last saw – I think – 47 years ago: The Who. Amazing, amazing night….
