A large crowd gathered in the barrio Simon Bolivar last night, and God was there in power. It was wonderful.
The police presence (the Pastor will have had to inform the police of a street event of this nature in a ‘risky’ district) kept the number of sicarios down – they’re not going to be around with police 4×4’s parked close nearby and others patrolling 🙁 – so in that sense, it as disappointing. BUT… there was a large crowd there, lots of adults, many children – doubtless with a few sicarios included: many gave their lives to Jesus: many others were healed. We’re still running at pretty close to 100% of God healing people supernaturally.
Praying for people took a long, long time: but the first up was BEFORE the evening began… a lovely lady, Bernardina, who I recognised but that was it, came and hugged and hugged me, showered me with kisses, and spoke in Spanish at warp speed…. the translator told me that she was so happy, as I’d prayed for her three years ago, and an amazing miracle happened. She wanted not only to GO to Germany, but to obtain German citizenship. Even now, three years on, that’s nigh on impossible for Colombians: it’s hard enough even to get a visa, though from July next year, the bulk of the European Union who are in the Schengen agreement, are allowing Colombians to enter without obtaining a visa first. Three years ago, that most definitely wasn’t the case. Bernardina was overjoyed, as, soon after praying for her for God to do a miracle for her, she got approval for her German citizenship – she – and 37 other members of her family!!!! That is a staggering miracle!!
Various people spoke during the evening – Hernan & Aida, the Pastors, Caroline, who is with me, Pastor Wilmar Gomez, who shared his testimony – much more the sort of testimony that would resonate with Colombians, much more so than our somewhat ‘sanitised’ testimonies from the western world. Wilmar’s parents divorced when he was 6: by the time he was mid-teens he was an alcoholic and drug addict. Wilmar is an amazing testimony to the power of a praying mum, and another great redemption story.
Praying for people with Wilmar is great: he’s such a wonderful, servant-hearted man, as well as being a real faithful friend. Everyone we prayed for was healed of physical, discernable pain/illness. Juan David, 33 years old, severe scoliosis since he was 12. He couldn’t bend down without extreme pain, hunched back….his back straightened immediately, and he bent to touch his toes a number of times, for the first time in many years.
A lady with extreme pain from her shoulders downwards – it wasn’t easy to ascertain the cause, but it had been for years – was completely freed from pain. Another lady with whole body pain, and only a slight whisper of a voice, was healed of all pain, and her voice got louder with every sentence she spoke! One of the frustrating things about praying for loads of people is that you so quickly forget who you prayed for, or what was wrong with them…. 🙁
One elderly lady had acute osteoarthritis (guess where, regular readers??!! – yeah, right! Knees!) – and the worst varicose veins I’ve ever seen. Her legs were swollen with what looked like one large varicose vein, and then the usual lumps on top of that…. all the pain went, and the swelling in her legs was visibly reducing as we watched….
Between the four of us, we must have prayed for about 100 last night, with the vast percentage healed, and at least two or three saved. It’s the first time anything like that has happened in this barrio: it as a great outcome, but I think to approach the next time a little lower key than a huge sound system and dancers was what attracted the police’s interest! Maybe just a handful of young people, sitting on a kerb, chatting to them might not need police permission…. 🙂
